Kathy purchased Elated as a colt when he was just a few weeks old and he came home to her farm after weaning. Elated came with Kathy from Texas as a yearling to Georgia with her other Arabians and Half Arabians in 1987. She raised, trained and showed Elated in everything from Western Sidesaddle, Western Pleasure, Western Trail, Hunter Pleasure, Show Hack, Country English Pleasure, Competitive Trail and Dressage as a stallion. She first showed Elated when he was 5 in Western Pleasure at Wills Park Equestrian Center. Often times Elated would show in 2nd Level Dressage, Western Trail, Sidesaddle, and English Show Hack all in the same show. Kathy and Elated also competed in local open shows against all breeds at Wills Park Equestrian Center. Elated and Kathy also participated in the Atlanta Holiday Parade for two years in downtown Atlanta.
As a stallion, Elated sired two super sweet, athletic foals, pure Polish JAG Electra "Ellie" (out of Pepsi Free, by *Pepton) and JAG Ecstatic "Tad" (out of FM Jaharah, by Barnaby++).
At age 13 Elated was gelded so Jessica and Megan (at 10) could enjoy and learn from him. They first showed him in Walk Trot and Walk Trot Canter classes. Jessica showed Elated through middle school and into high school as well. She showed him in Sport Horse In Hand, Sport Horse Under Saddle, Hunters 2'6"-3', Jumpers, Dressage, Hunter Hack, Showmanship, and Combined Training with countless wins. They competed in both breed and open shows. Jessica also had a wonderful time with Elated in the Atlanta Pony Club for clinics, rallies, cross country schooling, Junior Fox Hunts and Hunter Paces. Elated is also the first horse many friends and family rode when they visited. He was also shown by friends in a variety of classes. Elated's sparky personality, athletic ability, and willingness to work is one in a million. 💜
Kathy also won the "Bonanza" award one year at the GAHA Summer Classic for Elated's versatility showing and placing well in Western Pleasure, Western Trail, Country English Pleasure, and Hunter Pleasure.
Elated helped "raise" numerous babies throughout the years. We always wanted his amazing personality to rub off on them! Elated's last show was when he was 19 years old in Dressage, Sport Horse Under Saddle and Sport Horse In Hand. He could not have been a more willing partner for the entire Gilker family and has enjoyed a well earned retirement since then, with an occasional bareback ride or trail ride around the farm.
Elated has been enjoying his retirement with his lovely best friend Surprise (our 27 year old 3/4 Arabian pony mare) who takes care of him in his old age as his hearing is not 100% anymore!
