Not only has Kid won two National Championship titles in Second Level Dressage as well as multiple National Top Tens, he has taught SO many inexperienced riders the ropes, newly back in the saddle "re-riders," and given countless first time riders the chance to be on a horse throughout his lifetime. As most of you know, Kid has a very sweet, loving personality and always enjoys attention and is so incredibly eager to work and highly forgiving. He's basically an adorable puppy in a horse's body. As the Arabian Horse Association website details the highly recognizable traits of an Arabian Horse, JAG Kalico Kid+// is the epitome of the Arabian Horse with his intelligence, trainability, gentle disposition, versatility, willingness, affectionate nature, and has proven himself to be an all-around family horse, show horse, and competitive sport horse.

On April 18th, 2018 Kid was a wonderful example for 4-Hers to learn more about Arabians, He was used for in hand and under saddle for the Forsyth County 4-Hers to practice judging Arabian Horses. He was also such a patient and loving horse on July 26th, 2018 for the non-profit MentorMe youth to meet and learn about horses - for some it was the very first time meeting a horse. The youth had the opportunity to spend time grooming and getting to know Kid.

In 2009 & 2010 Kid was used for the Berry College Equestrian Team's Intercollegiate Horse Show Association program. He was selected as one of the horses for their southeast Regional competition. One of the rider's randomly drew his name as her horse for her Intermediate Level Hunt Seat class and won the class with Kid.

The Gilkers were incredibly honored to have Kid selected as one of 16 Arabians to attend the 2019 Breyer Fest “Salute to Heroes” 30th anniversary on July 12-14, 2019 in Lexington, Kentucky at the Kentucky Horse Park to help represent the Arabian Horse in front of thousands. Every year BreyerFest brings together individuals young and old through their love of horses. At least two of the Breyer Fest days were completely sold out and we believe the final count of visitors was around 30,000. Kid participated in a daily demonstration and free time at the stalls before or after demonstrations was spent introducing Kid to newcomers to the breed - young and old - at BreyerFest. The days were long and it was definitely a hot weekend and the Kentucky Horse Park was extremely busy and packed with visitors, but it was all worth it to see so many smiling faces and people eager to learn more about Kid and the other horses.  You can see all the photos from BreyerFest here: https://www.facebook.com/pg/jagarabians/photos/?tab=album&album_id=3034686943277567

Kid has participated in 3 Georgia Arabian Horse Association events open to the public and all breeds - two dressage/sport horse clinics and one Intro to Ranch Riding/Trail Classes Practice Day. This gave Kid the opportunity to positively promote the breed on three different separate occasions three seperate years - 2018. 2019 and 2020. On April 23, 2011 Kid also attended a hunter/equitation clinic at a strictly hunter/jumper farm with renowned USHJA/USEF 'R' judge and clinician Anne Kenan where he even exhibited riding with no reins walk, trot and canter, simply being ridden off the seat. He made such a positive impression on everyone watching!

Kid has most recently been used July 2020 in a photo shoot by Sweet Fresno Photography, being the model's first introduction to Arabian Horses.

As a young horse, Kid garnered several Regional Championships in western pleasure and western side saddle. In 2006 he received an AHA National Top Ten with his youth rider, Jessica, in Western Sidesaddle. With the family always being passionate about hunters and dressage, we transitioned Kid back to a hunter and dressage horse after his 4 year career in western pleasure.

Kid took riders (young and old) in crossrails, long stirrup, low hunter, schooling hunter and pre-adult on the open, local GHJA circuit. He was the trusty mount for an 11-year-old rider's first horse show over fences in cross rails - second show ever. The pair earned 2 seconds and a third out of eight in the cross rails division at the Elite Show Jumping Fall October 2015.  The sweet mother of this dedicated young rider had this to say following the show October 12, 2015: "Lauren was lucky enough to show on this beauty, Kid, who was an absolute angel for her. They won lots of ribbons which is great, but the best part was watching the sweet encouragement that Lauren received from so many people...I would also like to thank Megan Gilker and Jessica Gilker (and Kathy, of course) for allowing Lauren to show your sweet Kid. He is truly one of a kind."

JAG Kalico Kid+// also showed his willingness and work ethic was also pulled out of pasture to help a 18-year-old youth rider finish reaching her goals of a strong show season and competing in Georgia Hunter Jumper Finals when her current mount got hurt. Kid was such a willing partner that tried his heart out in this last minute and new partnership.  At ONLY their second show together at the Falcon Ridge GHJA show in the team received Champion in the Long Stirrup division and Long Stirrup Equitation. "They did GREAT! 3 1st, 1 2nd and a 3rd and Kid got CHAMPION! He was a good boy! Thank you sooooo much for letting us borrow him!!" the hardworking and talented youth rider's mother told us. "Thank you! He's so much fun to ride! Thank you guys so much for letting me borrow him!" the youth rider praised Kid October 2015.

He competed up to 2'9" in hunters and showed in hunter pleasure, halter, and sport horse classes on the AHA circuit. He also has competed multiple times locally in combined training. We have always been excited about Kid's versatility and willingness to please, especially when Kid helped Megan and Jessica receive all their 2nd level scores towards their USDF Bronze Medal. Thanks in part to Kid, Megan was awarded her USDF Bronze Medal in 2018 a very short time frame of aiming for this goal. Kid earned himself a Reserve National Champion USEF Horse of the Year title in Second Level Dressage (Amateur) and multiple Regional USEF Horse of the Year titles. We always love doing a medium or extended trot on Kid with his fun, natural suspension.

In October 2019 Kathy at 66 years old competed Kid in training and first level dressage against all breeds and received three second places and one third in the highly competitive adult amateur classes for Training Level Test 3 and First Level Test 1. He is such a confidence builder for all ages. Back in 2018 Kid was the first ride back in the saddle for a 72-year-old who was recovering physically and mentally from a riding accident on her own horse. Kid gave this timid, senior rider the fortitude to go completely off the lunge line for her first time riding a horse since her accident. It was so wonderful seeing what a positive influence Kid could have in the lives of others.

Kid at the age of 19-22 years old is schooling 3rd and 4th level dressage and competed in 3rd level show in September 2022 & October 2022. competing against Warmbloods and other breeds. Kid also was part of the demo rides at the USDF "L" Judge Program Session B in August 2022. Kid is the epitome of a hard working, willing teammate and embodies the soundness and longevity of the Arabian Horse breed.

Over his lifetime he has garnered Regionals titles in dressage, hunters and sport horse divisions. Not only is Kid a horse for all levels and ages and an exceptional show horse, he is wonderful on the trails and at hunter paces. He's such a pleasure to ride bareback and play around bridle-less! We are so incredibly lucky to have this kind, athletic, attention loving, versatile, and affectionate horse as a part of our family.

JAG Kalico Kid+// is third generation raised and bred by Kathy. He is by Cappuccino Royale (Saddlebred) and out of JAG Silhouette (Arabian). He is half sibling to these Nationally recognized horses: JAG Royal Knight, JAG Lady Pegasus+/, and JAG Cafe Au Lait+/. He is quadruple registered Half Arabian, Half Saddlebred, National Show Horse and Pinto.
